Tuchel to DB25 Adapter Panel
This adapter plate allows you to convert panel mount Tuchel connectors like those used on Tridents, MCIs, ect, to a DB25 connection. This saves quite a bit of time and money if one was needing to make a lot of adapter cables for their install, or allow a much more budget approach to wiring a console if spec’ing out a full build. Tuchel cables are not available off the shelf and it is much easier to find DB25s these days. The old Tuchel design, besides becoming scarce, was not designed with oxidation resistant materials, so these days most Tuchels I encounter have quite a lot of black oxidation on their pins. Many D-Sub connectors have gold plated contacts, which is important when connections are made once and forgotten about, since gold does not oxidize. Most connectors used in audio have a bit of self cleaning action when plugged in and out, but since console connections are usually left alone for years or decades at a time, there is no movement to clear away any gunk that grows on the contact metals. This can additional resistance can cause many problems that could take a long time to find, best to go with gold contacts on any permanent or semi-permanent connections.
These are not plug and play, and will need to be soldered by a skilled technician into the wiring harness of whatever equipment you are upgrading, but once done the new connectors are ready to integrate to many modern studio configurations.
